It's hard to see in this image, but on the right hand side of the fireplace is the original bread oven. It's a little clearer in the next picture.

The open fire was great, however the chimney pot had to come off to allow the fire to draw. Without the fire lit any warmth in the house soon went skywards.
An Aga and a sealed flue made a huge difference to the temperature of the house...
